A big, bold, and risky move pulled by the Washington Huskies’ program to sign Steve Sarkisian to become their next head coach. For one, he’s to improve the winless Huskies, but it shouldn’t be a problem after already cleaning house. Fresh, new energy, and a change of style should motivate the Huskies into the right direction. Even Nike has a foot in things, by re-designing the Huskies’ uniform for next year. Just hope, it doesn’t go through the many different 8th grade science experiments that the Oregon’s uniforms has gone through. Anything, but Ty the Huskies’ faithful have been screaming. The new expression sung by the Dawgs, "Sark it, Bark it, Or Park it."

Steve Sarkisian has empathizes and starting to evoked change in several components of the Huskies’ program such as opening practices to the public or media, the need for speed needed in the offensive and defensive side of the ball, and better conditioning of their athletes. However, how long it will take to turn around the Huskies’ program will remain to be seen.

Lofa Tatupu on comparing Sarkisian to Pete Carroll

"He’s got the same kind of energy and enthusiasm and I think that’s important. He’ll bring that competitive edge and life, not just to the games but to practice, and I think that’s as important, that preparation for the game. And he’ll bring that edge to it. There are going to be some exciting things happening."

Matt Cassel on comparing Sarkisian to Pete Carroll

"I’m happy for him," Cassel said. "He’s a great coach who brings a lot of energy and enthusiasm. Very similar to Coach Carroll, he’s got a lot of charisma. He’ll do a great job here. He’s got a brilliant mind and really works hard at what he does."

Former BYU coach LaVell Edwards on his former player Steve Sarkisian.

"I think if you are going to take a gamble on a 34-year-old young man with no more experience than what Steve has I think Steve is the guy,” Edwards said. "He’s going to be as well-prepared as anybody could be, and when I say that I’m talking emotionally and mentally and the whole works. He’s not an in-your-face type of guy but he’s going to command respect just the way he does things. And he’s not afraid to step up and let you know what you need to do. I just think it’s a very good gamble for Washington.”

Fight On, USC Trojans!

The USC football program is in its biggest identity crisis yet. Two former USC coaches are given a life-time opportunity, a golden Willy Wonka’s ticket as one could call: to restore their respected program by making it a football power house.

A football factory modeled after USC’s. For the visual learner; think of it as a purple or orange USC.

Fight On, Lane Kiffin and Steve Sarkisian; build, structure, and grow this football factory.

A conflict arises when they seek leaders for their program from the current Trojan’s family. Rocky Seto, Ken Norton Jr, David Watson, Dennis Slutak, Todd McNair, Pat Ruel, and Kris Richards will be wearing Tennessee or Washington next year.

It remains to be seen if any will be tempted by Santa’s christmas gift. We’re going to wait, and see.

This a new weekly segment.

Voices from the Sport’s World

"When you feel like you’ve got a game won and you just need one play and you don’t get it done, it’s tough.”

-Ty Willingham, On the Game. 11/22/08

"I think Pete has just done an excellent job of going in there and getting top notch athletes that are competitive week in and week out.

And he’s got a whole bunch of them. And somehow he’s been able to not only get a whole bunch of them but keep a whole bunch of them happy, because they usually end up staying there.

You look at the running backs, which we’ll get to later on, and you have a guy like Mark Tyler who we wanted really bad and he’s their fourth halfback. So as you look at their depth chart, he’s done a really good job at assembling a good amount of talent and they play that way.”

-Charlie Weis, On how Pete Carroll has set the mark on college football. 11/23/08

“I think this is number one. Just being an Oklahoma kid, it’s non-stop Bedlam. Just going out in public, Oklahoma fans don’t want to lose to OSU, and OSU fans don’t want to lose to Oklahoma. So I think it’s a bigger toll than Texas only because we come into more contact with OSU fans.”

- Dominique Franks , Oklahoma DB, On the Bedlam Series between Oklahoma State and Oklahoma 11/25/08

"I’m thrilled about it. I think he’s obviously followed well from the leadership from some of our coaches (laughter).

No, I think it’s interesting to me that he has an ear for it, and he understands the sense of competitiveness and the competition in our country that makes this an issue. I think it’s a natural to keep playing and find a champion. I think that’s what Americans are all for. We’re all in every aspect of what we’re about here.

For him to latch onto that I think, you know, is a sign that he’s in touch with stuff. He’s in touch with the people. I think if you took a vote across the country, there’s no way that the vote would come out `let’s vote for the BCS’. They’re going to vote for a playoff system. A person that seems to have obviously recognize speaking for the people of this country, has just picked another issue that’s topical, kind of interesting, fun, all that.

This is not going to solve world issues, you know. But it certainly is a fun issue for the people that run the world of college football and I think college sports that follow it.

It was really cool that he picked up on it. It gives us, those guys that do want to stand up and say that we’d like to have it differently, you know, a little impetus, backing. If the president wants it, shoot, how can you turn that down (smiling)?”

- Pete Carroll , On his reaction of Obama getting involved in the BCS Discussion 11/25/08

"A-"

- Lou Holtz , On what grade he would give Weis’ job performance the last 4 years.

"It’s probably the biggest game in Oregon State’s recent history. We all know what it means to us. As far as hating each other? Of course we don’t like the Ducks, but we are friends with the players. I think that just increases the competitiveness. You lose a battle to one team and you’ve just lost a battle, but you lose to one of these guys and you’re going to hear about it that night.”

- Mike Riley , On the Civil War Rivalry between Oregon State and Oregon player.

"They have good coaches. Nick Saban is a good coach; he has won a National Championship. It’s the old cliché, play each game one at a time. If you look to tomorrow, it could be the end of you. In our business it is a 13-game playoff and Alabama is in a situation where they have a great opportunity in this conference. If you go undefeated in this league, you have accomplished a huge feat. I’m not putting other conferences down, but in this league it is so hard. Just take it one day at a time and see what happens. We have had an opportunity this week to look at every game that Alabama has played in this season. They are much improved. They’ve had their bad moments, but have been able to overcome those. They are well coached and well prepared each week. You can tell they are focused on what they are doing. We will give it our best shot this week. Alabama will come to play and they want to enjoy this game also. This is not a game where they are just going to walk out there and think that they are going to win the game. They know and understand that each game no matter who you are playing, you have to get ready to play."

-Tommy Tuberville , On taking down an undefeated Alabama team. 11/24/08
