Voices from around College Football

"It’s going to be fun hearing ‘Rocky Top’ after we beat Florida next year."

Lane Kiffin- Tennessee coach. In his first press conference.

“I think obviously it does (play a factor). I have been sour that it hasn’t been as strong as an influence as it used to. I guess in situations where all things being equal, what do you go to? In the end, I can’t equate to what transpired and how much of an influence it had, but it had an influence. Again, I think people that continue to want to play out-of-conference games, and people want to watch and go to and be excited about it, there has to be an incentive to do it. Otherwise, heck, just schedule four wins and move on down the road and you could almost schedule a bowl game by then.”

-Bob Stoops, Oklahoma coach. On strength of schedule being an important factor

"It’s a great conference and when you have this many great teams in one conference, things like this happens. It’s a tough conference to play in. There are too many great teams, and you can’t really control that. We would like to have won last week and be undefeated, but we didn’t. We want the best to turn out and whatever happens, happens. It’s been an exciting year and this is the best conference."

-Graham Harrell, Texas Tech coach. On the future conference outcome.

"I think they are a spread offense. Obviously the quarterback is a unique player, in terms of his ability to throw the ball and be a very good runner, and that always creates one more blocker and one more thing that you have to defend. We have seen some parts of what they do throughout the year, so we have some frame of reference of what they do. I think the biggest thing they do is utilize a lot of different formations, a lot of different personnel groups and utilize their players in different ways. They have a lot of good players and that makes it very challenging to try and stay in the right leverage positions and make the adjustments you need to make so that you’re not unsound, in terms of something that they do. Their offensive line, in the meantime, has done a pretty good job of blocking the up front people. So it’s really important to control your gaps up front and play on the line of scrimmage, be aggressive, get off your blocks and make plays. They are reading a lot of the things that they do so as defensive player you have to read and react to what they are doing as well."

-Nick Saban, Alabama coach. On coaching against an offensive like Florida.

- “This was one of the best games on both sides of the ball of guys finishing plays. The downfield blocking and overall effort — it’s really good stuff.”

- “You had an opportunity, realized what was in front of you and matched it with great effort and excitement, and it was awesome to see.”

- “Last two years against those guys, it’s 76-3. That’s what I’m talking about.”

- “The playoff run ain’t done yet. We have one last shot to finish this right. It’s the conference championship game — that’s what it is.”

-Pete Carroll, USC coach. After the Trojans afternoon’s meeting.

What a weekend in college football.
Alabama victory over Arkansas St was nothing, but pure boredom. 35-0

Highlights.

Penn St had the week off.

Can’t you tell?

Texas Tech victory over Texas was nothing more than a classic football game.

So great in fact that Mike Leach is now giving dating advice ?

And the weather ?

Florida dominated Georgia 49-10.
Point being?

The Bulldogs do suck balls.

Oklahoma dominated Nebraska 62-24.
How bad is Nebraska?

They’re focusing all their energy now towards making Barbecue sauce.

USC dominated Washington 56-0.

The game was so bad that USC led 42-0 after half-time.
Washington and Washington St are both horrible this year.
It’s so ugly that I’m curious to see the point spread for the Apple cup?

At least Ty has a fall back profession.

TOP 10 in BCS

Final Games
1. Alabama vs (at) LSU, Miss St, Auburn, *Sec Championship
2. Texas Tech vs Oklahoma St, (at) Oklahoma, Baylor, *Big-12 Championship
3. Penn St. vs (at) Iowa, Indiana, Michigan St.
4. Texas vs Baylor, (at) Kansas, Texas A&M *Big-12 Championship
5. Florida vs (at) Vanderbilt, South Carolina, Citadel, *SEC Championship
6. Oklahoma vs (at) Texas A&M, Texas Tech, (at) Oklahoma St.
7. USC vs Cal, at Stanford, Norte Dame,
8. Utah vs (at) TCU, at SD St., BYU,
9. Oklahoma St vs (at) Texas Tech, (at) Colorado, Oklahoma *Big 12 Championship
10.Boise State vs Utah St, (at) Idaho, (at) Nevada.
*If they qualify

The BCS should still be a game of musical chairs before the final BCS standing are mounted for the BCS committee. It will tough to predict the final outcome, but I’ll give you my predictions.

Alabama will lose one game before the year is up. It’s either going to be against LSU or Aurburn. This will drop them to a BCS bowl at large bid. Final Verdict- BCS at large bid.

Texas Tech is in the driver seat for the BCS Championship game. They got a tough game against Ok St this weekend, but I can’t see the Red Raider’s losing at home. If they were to lose, it will be in the Big 12 Championship. Final Verdict-Texas Tech to BCS Championship.

Penn St. is the other team that controls its own destiny. If they overcome their next two games, it sets up a possible match-up with Michigan St to decide their BCS faith which I don’t see them losing. Final Verdict-Penn St to BCS Championship.

Texas lost to Texas Tech hindered their chance at the BCS championship at the moment, but it also leaves them at the perfect opportunity. The pollsters will not forget their narrow defeat and Texas has a easy schedule for the rest of their season. If they can win out and Texas Tech loses, Texas can move up the BCS ranking. Final Verdict-BCS Championship buster or BCS at large.

Florida is Florida. If they get the media attention, they’re bigger than the Kobe, Lebron, and Tiger Woods combined. At the current moment, they’re not getting too much media attention since the Big-12 conference is getting all the love. I can see Florida only getting to the BCS Championship if a Big-12 meltdown exist and possibly playing Penn St in the title game. Final Verdict-BCS Championship buster or BCS at large.

Oklahoma is the red headed step sister. They have been left from all the hype, but will get their shot against Texas Tech and Oklahoma St later on in the year. If Oklahoma wins out, I can see them going to a BCS title game, but I don’t see they being them both. Final Verdict-BCS Championship buster or BCS at large.

USC is walking through mud. They’re playing their best football, but the lack of competition from the rest of the Pac-10 makes it impossible for USC to move up in the polls. Final Verdict-USC will get a BCS at large bid.

Utah will not make it to the BCS championship and would be lucky to make a BCS at large bid. Weak Conference and lack of respect from the media.

Oklahoma St. could sneak into the top three spots in the BCS if they could win out the rest of their games. If they win against Texas Tech & Oklahoma, they will move up to either to 2-3 in the polls. If one of those victories games comes in dominating fashion, book the Cowboys to the BCS Championship. Final Verdict-BCS Championship buster or BCS at large.

Boise State. See Utah. S-O-S.

Fight On, USC Trojans!
