In a move, that surprised many, Arizona’s Basketball is back on the radar with the signing of Sean Miller.

Welcome back to the basketball’s world, Wildcats.
A great Arizona team can improve the Pac-10 image to the national media and lure more quality recruits to the Pac-10. The recent news has already spread to Tempe, and Sun Devils’ fans on their forums don’t expect the Wildcats to play well until two or three years.

On the other hand, one could feel the excitement in Tucson. They will have five or six scholarships available, and have only one recruit signed, so look for the Wildcats to go after any quality, unsigned recruits, and sell them the chance to be on national television, and playing time as a freshmen. The rumor mill has spread, and here are several recruits the Wildcats’ forum expect the Miller to target:

Solomon Hill- A unsigned, Trojan’s verbal who was a Arizona commit.
Kyryl Natyazhko-A unsigned, center whose top three include: Arizona St, Pitt, and Xavier.

Lute Olson on Sean Miller:

“Sean is a high-character guy,” Olson said. “I’ve known him for a long time. He’s a great coach, a hard worker, a great community guy, and I feel that you’d be hard pressed to find someone that fits the needs of our program as well as Sean,"

USC’s Basketball coach Tim Floyd visit with Arizona Athletic Director Jim Livengood provides the college basketball world with a good old fashion, western storyline.

Tim Floyd, his old sheriff Mike Garrett, and the new visiting sheriff Jim Livengood will debate, count their cash, and at the end, we’ll see if Tim Floyd was won over by the man from the Arizona desert.

Tim Floyd’s decision to look into other coaching options could not have come at a worse time for the Trojan’s basketball team.

The USC’s basketball program was moving forward on all its cylinders:

2008-09 Season

(1) Pac-10 Tournament Champion
(2) USC make it to the NCAA tournament as a ten seed.
(3) In their first round match up, beat a stunned Boston College team.
(4) In their second round game; they played well, and lost a close game against a very good Michigan State Spartans team.

Veterans Coming Back

(6) Demar Derozan, Taj Gibson, and Daniel Hackett were mostly likely going to stay another year, and not enter the NBA draft.

Fresh, New Talent

(7) Solomon Hill, Reynaldo Sydney, Noel Johnson, and Derrick Williams are all a part of the 2009 recruiting class which is the best Trojan’s recruiting class to date.

Momentum

USC could build on the momentum from their hard fought game against the Spartans.

Lamont "Mo-Mo" Jones , a Virginia Tech de-commit announced today that he will visit USC in April.

Lamont Jones, a point guard could be the missing puzzle piece that the Trojan’s basketball team needed the last several years. The loss of Ryan Francis and Angelo Johnson’s transfer has left the Trojans empty handed at the point guard position.  The lacked of a true point guard on the team has lead to Hackett to play the part, but he doesn’t distribute the ball like a point guard, and plays too much out of position. Therefore, the USC offensive has struggled to distribute the ball, gain any offensive rhythm, and relied too much on the defensive end to keep every game close.

Lamont Jones plays for Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Virginia, and has led Oak Hill to a 38-0 record, and the top seeded team in two of the top high school polls: ESPN Rise Poll , and PrepNation.com . Ironically, he inherited the point guard position from Brandon Jennings, another top point guard, who the Trojans recruited hard, before he committed to Arizona, and left for Europe.

March 6, 2009-Oak Hills Highlights-latest victory against Montrose, Maryland  69-63.

Lamont Jone will be a key factor in Oak Hill quest to be ESPN’s first high school national champion at the ESPN National High School Invitational where it’s the #1 seed, and plays #8Pinewood Prep on April 3, on ESPN U. Trojan’s fans, try to watch or get a glips of the game because it can be the final look at a future Trojan’s basketball star.
