Former USC Trojan Reggie Bush- The World’s Fastest Man?

It was reported in the L.A. Times that Former Trojan Reggie Bush ran a top speed of 22 mph in one of his punt returns against the Minnesota Vikings on Monday Night Football. He ended up running two back for touchdowns and almost took a third to the house.
Sam Farmer also noted that Jamaican Sprinter Usain Bolt averaged 23.07 mph in his World Record 100 meter sprint in the Beijing Olympics.
It makes everyone wonder, how fast is Reggie Bush?
If he ran 22 mph with pads on, can he beat Bolt without pads?
In the Detail.
As a freshmen in Helix High School, Reggie Bush ran a 11.00 flat 100 meters in tennis shoes.
In the Picture above: the 2001 California State Finals.
1. Matt Bruno – 10.55
2. Rubin Williams-10.72
3. Reggie Bush – 10.74( Senior Year)
It can also be noted that he ran a 10.42 in the state final prelim.
A very fast time for a 18 year old. His sprinting skill were even a hot topic on Letsrun.com message board which is the most visited track&field/running website in the whole country (Here’s the link.)
Mo Greene ran 10.43 in his Kansas HS state final.
Reggie Bush ran 10.42 in his California HS state final.
Basically, the same time with Reggie a tad faster.
What If?
Too bad Reggie Bush did not run track in college. I’m going to say Reggie would have had a blast running for the Trojans. He could have ran his junior year with 2004 California state champion Lionel Larry-10.30 in 100m, 20.73 in 200m, 47.28 in 400m.
Here is a quote I found from an Espn chat about Reggie opinion on running track in college.
Davis, (Cd’A, Idaho): Hey Pres, you obviously bulked up since coming to SC, but do you think you’ve mantained your speed? You think if you got a rematch in the state 100M you would take the gold now? I think so, FIGHT ON!
Reggie Bush: I don’t know, I haven’t ran track since high school. I was supposed to run track here but I held back after surgery and my focus is now on football. I don’t know if I could do it again, I’m definitely not in track shape, though!
So everyone must be asking, What do you do with all this information and how does it play into knowing how fast Reggie is? As one of the most natural gifted athletes in the country, I strongly believe Reggie Bush would have been the next great U.S. sprinter.
Fight On, Usc Trojans!
